Referee Clinic in Geraldton
Karate Ontario's Long Term Officials' Development (LTOD) Program is continuing full steam ahead to attract new judges and referees and further improve the quality of officiating in our province. Most recently, we held a Refereee Clinic in Geraldton, Ontario on April 30 which was attended by many karate-kas from the surrounding area. Thank you to Sensei Celebija and Sensei Yabunaka for teaching the well-received clinic and assisting with the local tournament on the following day. The weekend's events were also successful in recruiting new clubs and new students in Geraldton. Many thanks to Sensei Fred Simonaitis for hosting this event. If anyone else is interested in hosting similar regional clinics, please contact joy_jinbukai(at)rogers.com. We need everyone's help to continue to grow our organization and promote karate throughout the province.

Hamilton Referee Clinic - February 21st, 2010
The next event in our series of regional Referee Clinics will be held in Hamilton on Feb 21, 2010, 9:30 am - 3 pm.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who has been thinking about refereeing to come out and get an introduction to what it's all about. The session will cover both theory (ie.. Karate Ontario rules) as well as practical with the emphasis being on the latter. The clinic is also a great chance for dojo coaches and competitors to get a better understanding of the rules and how to improve performance in sport karate.
A portion of the clinic will focus on wado ryu. This part of the day is geared not only towards wado ryu practitioners but also any other karate-kas who want to broaden their understanding of karate.
